Waste of time

Clear and friendly guidance
We had a tree fall and damage part of our property during a storm one evening. Speaking to the Budget Direct claims consultant the next morning was a relief as she was clear, informative and direct. I haven't had much experience with insurance companies, but up until this point I had always expected them to be evasive and unhelpful. My experiences with Budget Direct were the exact opposite of my expectations as I was guided through each step, asked simple questions and given information on what steps should be my next. All in all it felt like a very successful business partnership!

Frustration!!
Budget Direct staff were pleasant but all trades associated with actual work were totally hopeless. To the extent of me advising I didn't want them in my house! First person in was "the rectifier" who was basically someone who liked listening to his own voice and was full of totally wrong information. His lack of knowledge left us living in a disrupted house for 3 months. Then the builder assigned to do the work had a supervisor who had no control or knowledge of the job. Too many excuses and no work done. Bottom line was they had under quoted for the repairs and were scrambling at ways to do the job. Builder was based on Sunshine Coast and my house is on the Gold Coast! Supervisor never called to look at work to be done and the whole process was a bad joke. In the end I said "NO MORE" and pushed for a cash settlement so I could arrange to fix the house myself. DO NOT accept repair work that is allocated to Liebke Builders from the Sunshine Coast. A pack of ametuers who will make your life hell !

Air conditioner motor

Disappointing
I was not happy being refused the claim. A friend had a similar issue and their insurance company covered the claim. I was given an excuse which i did not accept.

Didn’t budget on customer service.
No skimping on customer service. Staff very pleasant and accommodating. We were included in every part of the process, and then asked if we were happy along the way. No guess work anywhere. We knew exactly what was going on and when. The contractors they employed to do the work were fabulous, turned up on time, got stuck into their work and cleaning up each day before they left. What more could you ask.

Good Experience With Budget Direct
This is a good company with which to deal. I've had to make a couple of claims over the years and the experience was very easy. The personnel on the phone were terrific - very personable and amenable. No complaints from me and generally the quotes for home and contents and vehicle insurance have been fairly competitive.

Would not recommend Budget to anyone. The claims process was very difficult and had to escalate the claim after a couple of months of repeating myself. Eventually had the claim resolved after escalation

Fast, efficient service.
After an unfortunate encounter with a motor vehicle, the bicycle was quickly assessed and the claims process went smoothly. Budget Direct have a department that knows bikes and what is required for repairs. I don’t think many other other companies would be bothered.

Hassle free claims process.
Following a home break in and theft, I was apprehensive about the claims process. Thankfully I had kept all receipts, though admittedly some were hard to find; which is a lesson to be more diligent in future.
However the claims process went smoothly after initial phone report, then emails. The claim amount paid, minus the policy excess, was fair; the balance being paid into my Bank Account 14 days after first contact.

Uses technicalities to get out of repairs
Budget Direct are great at signing you up and renewing your policy however, when it comes to claims, they use whatever minor technicalities to get out of repairing damage that they can.
Multiple storm events caused internal water damage to a wall of my home but because it was not caused solely by one storm event, they won't accept the claim.
Damage was only noticed after multiple major storms so was the first time I could notify them there was an issue and they used that as a reason to deny my claim.
Great at taking policy premiums, not so great at insuring your property.
Easy process to lodge the claim online though but from that point onwards, little communication, multiple people from different business contacting me and coming over. No update on timeline, no update on process. Took ages for them to decline my claim but I couldn't fix the issue in the meantime so now I have more damage that they won't cover so I'm out of pocket even more money to fix it because of their negligence and delays.
Allianz was my last insurer and when I had this issue, they fixed it without question. Moving back to Allianz.

Fantastic support throughout our repair period.
Although being relatively new Budget Direct clients, we received outstanding support, both personally and financially throughout our claim and repair period after our home was flooded because of a burst water pipe. Our appointed case managers, Shirleeann and Brittany were just wonderful and so supportive: they kept in regular contact with us and worked closely with the trades to ensure work progressed promptly. Budget Direct were very generous with all payments, including allowances for temporary accommodation and for using our own painter, and did not quibble about repair costs for either damaged contents or on scope of repair works. The tradesmen appointed (ACT Trade Services) by Budget Direct were extremely professional and competent, and both the tradesmen and Budget Direct staff kept us fully informed throughout our repairs to ensure that completion was achieved as planned. I would willingly award Budget Direct 15 out of 10 and have recommended them to many family, friends and acquaintances.

Making a Claim is so Easy
I recently had to claim for some Shade Sails damaged by the recent storms and Budget Direct made the process so easy. As I wanted to enlarge the sails, a cash payout was agreed to, after an assessment was made. The payment was in my bank account within a week and I am now able to start the process of getting bigger and better Shade Sails installed and the ripped ones removed. thank you Budget Direct.

Great service with superior communication.
During the whole process of making a claim, we were kept completely updated and informed of all developments and variations to the process at all times. The communication was above all expectations and the quality of service was outstanding. Never having made an insurance claim previously, we were apprehensive at first, but in the end we were glad we were with Budget Direct.

Rejected my claim
I've paid insurance on my home for 20 years and never claimed. A freak heavy rain downpour that caused floods in my area, caused a leak in my roof. Ceiling damage, AV damage and they rejected my claim. Says gutter didn't meet building compliance, but it was built 15 years ago and no problems for 15 years.

Submitting a claim.
Budget Direct is cheap for a reason.. you put in a legitimate claim for property damage and then you have to pay your own assessors to find the cause. They send out one assessor who is an engineer (not a builder, plumber arborist etc) or has no qualifications in regard to the damaged area (a bathroom) who then says our problem is from a tree in the neighbors yard (which I'm not responsible for).
Budget Direct told me I will have to pay and get my own reports done to prove cause of damage and they are only going to go on their one engineer's report.
