I was broken into recently and budget direct were in to it. Without delay my home was secured and repairs were processed. The contents side was also dealt with efficiently and professionally at all times. They kept me posted with the progress and I would certainly recommend them.

Submitting a claim.
Budget Direct is cheap for a reason.. you put in a legitimate claim for property damage and then you have to pay your own assessors to find the cause. They send out one assessor who is an engineer (not a builder, plumber arborist etc) or has no qualifications in regard to the damaged area (a bathroom) who then says our problem is from a tree in the neighbors yard (which I'm not responsible for).
Budget Direct told me I will have to pay and get my own reports done to prove cause of damage and they are only going to go on their one engineer's report.

The smoothest claim I've ever made
I phoned Budget Direct very stressed on the Saturday morning before Christmas when we realised our fridge had been damaged in a monster storm and was immediately put at ease, had my claim processed on the spot and approval to go straight out and buy another fridge and food for Christmas which had also been lost.
It took me well over a week to get someone to look at the fridge as the timing wasn't very good with everyone off for the Christmas/new Year period, but as soon as I had the report I emailed the required documents to Budget on the weekend and by Monday morning had a call from a lovely lady in claims to tell me our claim had been approved and she put the money in my account within 3 days, to my surprise it was there the next day.
The easiest and most stressful claim I have ever made in 50 years.
I have no hesitation in recommending Budget Direct if you are looking for the same experience that I've had.

Wonderful Experience
Although my daughter handled everything for me, to know how the whole process was handled was just brilliant. They kept in contact with her thru the whole process and it was so efficient, and for me at 89 they restored my faith in insurance companies. Well done Budget Direct !!!!!!!

New Year Happiness
Before Xmas I lost my camera and photography gear. I completed the claim inline and soon recieved an email asking for more information. Upon providing requested information it was approx 2 weeks and my claim was fully paid out. I was able to buy new photographic material and equip for the new year. Thanks to Kath and the Budget team. You made the process so easy and I was able to get back out enjoying my hobby in no time.

Totally unsatisfactory claims process
Claims process not at all satisfactory and action only taken by Budget Direct when prompted by the customer.
The claim denied on basis that appears to be technical and based on factors over which we, the insured, have little or no control. Despite denying the claim for damaged which represented a destruction of the greater part of the building Budget Direct were quite prepared to accept the premium to cover the particular building. On the basis that this claim was denied it appears likely that there would not be any other cover in relation to the particular building, and despite this situation there was no offer of any refund of portion of the premium that was paid.

Couldn't have asked for better
I recently joined Budget Direct via the 50 Up Club. Had been with other provider for over 2 decades without having made a claim so not familiar at all with home insurance claims, however following the recent storms which hit Sydney, our claim was followed through from day one and had everything sorted out in a very timely manner.
Very happy to deal with local representatives who understand our issues and thus how to best deal with them. Very happy with the service overall which I would rate as 'personal service'.

Staff implying that information provided is false which subsequently means you as a customer defraud the insurer.
This on its own is an offence.

Waterfall in the lounge room
The damage to the lounge happened on a Saturday afternoon after filling the bath upstairs. After contacting the plumber and Budget Direct. The Home Safe, (electrician) came out to check wiring etc. There was always a follow-up with the customer claims team after each stage of the proceedings. The trades people Budget Direct employed to do the repairs were all professional in undertaking the job and finishing in a timely manor with an excellent result. Very happy with the other-come, and won't hesitate to recommend Budget Direct as an insurer to anyone.

Smooth Claim process.
We have been insured with Budget Direct for a while now. Unfortunately our TV was damaged recently due to accidental damage. I rang Budget Direct to lodge a claim and was very happy with the way the staff dealt with our claim with questions and arranging for assessor to come and have a look etc. The process from start to finish was a couple of weeks but we were informed by phone of the progress. All went well and we are extremely happy with the outcome. Thankyou Budget

Too long for claim to be completed
A small claim of replacing some guttering, a shade sail and 5m2 re-paint took 8 weeks to complete. Poor communication between insurance company, repair company and consumer. Staff were pleasant when spoken to, yet were not pro-active, rather, they were reactive.

Streamlined Claim Process
I have made 2 claims with Budget Direct building insurance within the last 6 months; one for carpet replacement due to burst of water pipe under kitchen sink and the other one was getting the fence fixed due to storm damage. I was very impressed with their streamlined claim process with no hassle in getting the claim approved and settlement fund via ETF. They offer very competitive premium on all insurance types. Would highly recommend to anyone to use them.

Smooth claims Process and excellent settlement.
Queensland - storm season. Severe lightening strikes sustained over a large area of Northern Brisbane. Our household had a direct lightning strike to our aerial. Over $6,000 damages were sustained to home theatre gear along with two computers and a $5,000 computer printer. All were repaired, replaced and some UPGRADED or with equivalent appliances and electronics leaving us in an excellent state of complete restoration of all of our loses. This exceeded our expectations. No shortcuts were carried during the settlement process and the final settlement made had us very well pleased in all outcomes and expectations.

Amazing service from start to finish!
I’ve never been burgled before and had an insurance claim. It was a very traumatic experience for our family, but Budget Direct were amazing.

Pathetic excuse for not approving claim.
Won’t be renewing my policy with budget direct. I’ve never claimed in my life and I’m an honest person yet when my properties timber floors were damaged in the recent Melbourne floods they said it was a defective balcony. It’s never happened before and not since with all the rain. The building and balcony obviously passed building standards when it was built. I was worried they’d find some loophole to get out of paying and they did, very disappointing. Budget direct bank on people being too busy to fight their pathetic decisions. Still considering going to the insurance ombudsman when I get a chance.

From the first phone call when we had a blocked toilet and it flooded our downstairs living and dinning areas was so simple.
The team that dealt with our claim were fantastic and very compassionate.
We had settlement very quickly and nothing was too much bother for the girls in the office

Quick and easy
Our neighbours tree branch feel and broke tiles on our roof during a storm flooding the ceiling in our bathroom.A repair crew were out within 1 day to patch the roof temporarily.Assessment was done in a week.The builders managed to find the tiles (Very old and rare).On the 1st day of repairs an electrician disconnected power to the 3 way light/heater/fan and the builders replaced the tiles and replaced the damaged ceiling and new insulation.2nd day refitted light and paint ceiling and walls.Repairs look better than before and all were very friendly and easy to deal with.The builders even cleaned up after each day including vacuuming the carpet.Budget Direct team member Sheldon was always in contact to update me and check progress.Our claim was processed from start to finish with respect and professionalism by all parties involved.
