Mobility aid challenge
The rating from Canstar Blue prompted me to check with Budget Direct as to cost and convenience for Home & Contents Insurance. Having a "Mobility Aid" in household contents had proved to be a slight challenge but is now covered under personal items for a slightly increased charge. However, the total amount was close to $400 cheaper than the nearest quote from our previous company and the amounts insured are higher. Happy with the easy on-line process and there is a Chat option for any queries on the way.

Budget friendly with lots of cover!
My experience with Budget Direct was extremely easy! Went online and completed an online quote which was honoured over the phone for the exact same price! Was quick and easy to set up. Even though I wasn’t 100% sure of some questions as it was for contents insurance in a home were were due to move into. They were flexible with all kinds of payment timelines and we opted to pay in lump sum as there was a great discount, compared to the overall price for weekly of monthly. Customer service was fantastic!
Would recommend their smooth process.

Excellent price of premium
I took out Landlord's insurance for a rental property. The premium was significantly less than any other quote that I received. I must admit that I am a little concerned that the premium was great but, the important thing is the claim service in the event of a claim. Time will tell but if the TV advertising is anything to go by, this is a great product.

Hassle free claims process.
Following a home break in and theft, I was apprehensive about the claims process. Thankfully I had kept all receipts, though admittedly some were hard to find; which is a lesson to be more diligent in future.
However the claims process went smoothly after initial phone report, then emails. The claim amount paid, minus the policy excess, was fair; the balance being paid into my Bank Account 14 days after first contact.

Uses technicalities to get out of repairs
Budget Direct are great at signing you up and renewing your policy however, when it comes to claims, they use whatever minor technicalities to get out of repairing damage that they can.
Multiple storm events caused internal water damage to a wall of my home but because it was not caused solely by one storm event, they won't accept the claim.
Damage was only noticed after multiple major storms so was the first time I could notify them there was an issue and they used that as a reason to deny my claim.
Great at taking policy premiums, not so great at insuring your property.
Easy process to lodge the claim online though but from that point onwards, little communication, multiple people from different business contacting me and coming over. No update on timeline, no update on process. Took ages for them to decline my claim but I couldn't fix the issue in the meantime so now I have more damage that they won't cover so I'm out of pocket even more money to fix it because of their negligence and delays.
Allianz was my last insurer and when I had this issue, they fixed it without question. Moving back to Allianz.

Fantastic support throughout our repair period.
Although being relatively new Budget Direct clients, we received outstanding support, both personally and financially throughout our claim and repair period after our home was flooded because of a burst water pipe. Our appointed case managers, Shirleeann and Brittany were just wonderful and so supportive: they kept in regular contact with us and worked closely with the trades to ensure work progressed promptly. Budget Direct were very generous with all payments, including allowances for temporary accommodation and for using our own painter, and did not quibble about repair costs for either damaged contents or on scope of repair works. The tradesmen appointed (ACT Trade Services) by Budget Direct were extremely professional and competent, and both the tradesmen and Budget Direct staff kept us fully informed throughout our repairs to ensure that completion was achieved as planned. I would willingly award Budget Direct 15 out of 10 and have recommended them to many family, friends and acquaintances.

Making a Claim is so Easy
I recently had to claim for some Shade Sails damaged by the recent storms and Budget Direct made the process so easy. As I wanted to enlarge the sails, a cash payout was agreed to, after an assessment was made. The payment was in my bank account within a week and I am now able to start the process of getting bigger and better Shade Sails installed and the ripped ones removed. thank you Budget Direct.

I went to Budget Direct because of the awards from Money Magazine a publication i respect, the information about the terms and conditions of the policy was easy to find and in plain english !! Very important to me !because i tend to distrust companies who either make it hard to find or tall in legal eagle speak.

Application process technical exception
I attempted to purchase a policy using the IE browser. Towrds the end of the process after entering the bulk of the information this ended in a technical exception - I tried this several times all resulting in a technical exception. Using the Chat feature I was advised to try a different browser. Using Chrome, I also ended up with a technical exception. I was then finally successful when I used my iPad
